Godzilla: Unexpected Wonder
What are the ingredients for a successful film? If it leaves the audience infatuated, and makes you want more. I just saw a contender for movie of the summer: Godzilla (2014) if you remember my blog post for the callback to a greater Godzilla film, and I was met with clover field, I was happy, but yearning for more. Godzilla did nearly everything right, and hit all my expectations by being what I was not expecting.
Godzilla is already an international icon, and this film is not so much the icing on the cake to the legacy of the king of monsters, but more accurately a while new cake that could be as equally satisfying as the first. Bryan Cranston. Did an excellent job. In the film, while allowing for room for Wantanabe and Mose to also flourish. The film does move fairly quickly throughout, and it does use a lot of visual affects and symbolism to the the story, but it does this in a way that spellbound, and not just CGI for the sake of looking sweet. The symbolisms are great, although I feel that the movie was probably shorter than it should've been, but then again if it were longer, it would probably feel to drawn out, so on that I cannot complain.
The battles were executed anti-Michael Bay style, and I was intrigued by just how well calculated each movement was, because it didn't feel like any ace e was wasted.
I don't have any serious complaints about the film, other than it would be bad if this was the only one made, it should be a series. I'm opining for a sequel, because this film delivered in a way very few have in the recent years. I was enthralled, and I now want to see it in 3-D IMAX just because it is a movie deserving if such caliber.
I may even go this week to see it, because it was honestly one of the best films I've seen in years that evoked such emotion in me that I felt I was watching a contender for an Oscar. No, I kid you not!
However, like l good films, it is neither perfect, nor treacherous, but I saw some room for improvement. However, I would sound quite arrogant to say I could've done any better.
Legendary Pictures has allowed for a film that was far greater than even I could imagine, with spot-on acting when prevalent, and a cast of characters that are enjoyable, with few misgivings. The tale is spun well, and MUTO is a great installment. However, it was a surprise to many, and I was given an appeal that has been lost on so many films of the past.
I sincerely look forward to a sequel to quench my monstrous thirst, and I personally am now and advantageous supporter, and an adamant fan of Legendary Pictures.
If you are a fan of the old Godzilla, or someone sparked by such wonder for the first time, I recommend you this see this film, it is a shiny beacon of hope for the film industry and a big middle finger to the Hollywood elitist who ruin great franchises. Thank you, Legendary, you have made us all hopeful again in a time where needed it most.
