Blog Update! Good to Be Back!

This last week was more a hiatus for me, as I was able to take a short break from the monotony of posting weekly. Granted, my twitter feed has been dead lately, and not because I’ve not been busy, on the contrary! I have been quite busy with several projects, and reading a summer book in the midst of trying to prepare for NaNoWriMo. I must say though that it is good to be typing again, and giving the old phalanges a loosening. Still, with so much writing coming up, and a couple of sequels I would like to see finished by the end of this year; I feel as though my writing is becoming perplexed with perpetuity, as all I ever seem to do is write. Granted, writing is something that should be done continuously, but that is why I took a break from the blog, not because you were all in dire need of a new post, and knowing how long my post are; it was best to get some time to actually catch up on what has already been written. I must say I was a bit upset that I wasn’t able to get out a short story this week, but that’s because I’ve been writing to publish one through one of the many E-zines out there. However, this will not stifle me in any way from continuing to bring you a short story most weeks. I was very adamant about completing a story, or at least leading into a story and doing parts throughout for every single week. Mostly I’ve been successful, not missing very often. Still, I’m sure with the track record I’ve had over the years, I’ve kept better to my word than most. On a similar note, I will also be putting out a “short” short story soon entitled Infinity and Null, which was originally meant to be a work sent to Asimov’s Science Fiction for potential publication, but seeing as I rather have it go to the Malacast Editorial, I feel it will be a much more beneficial place to publish it, and get the proper audience of a very wide variety of hobbies and tastes to appreciate it, rather than a science fiction outlet. Never before has Infinity and Null been published, and I’m excited to see reactions to it, because I’m not necessarily overly proud of the story, but rather find it’s quirkiness, and minimized style to be fitting for a blog post. For now, NaNoWriMo has been the upcoming behemoth I am meant to tackle, and having succeeded the first time; and doing quite well the first time through, I’ve decided I want to achieve two years in a row of writing a novel in a month. I found this to be exciting, and a change of pace from taking months to write a novel. You can read the NaNoWriMo journal post I put up chronicling my day-by-day writing, which also added to writing well over 100,000 words in less than fifteen days. I am also trying my best to put out that newsletter, and finding it rather difficult to do the way I intended to, and I know how scary it is to give out e-mails these days, so I hope to have the Fall issue out as soon as possible, but until then, I will be providing more posts as the weeks lead up to NaNoWriMo, and this time I do plan on taking time out of my writing to actually give a proper update to my readers, so it is nearly a day-by-day account, rather than an overall account; which was rather obnoxious, and I apologize for having so many go throughout that: I’m truly sorry. The last short story I released was called “Elmer”, and I hope it was met with more positive critique, and it was vastly understood to be a caricature of an H.P. Lovecraft story. Although it is plainly obvious that most of Lovecraft’s stories were based in old-timey, turn-of-the-century New England, I purposely moved this down south, mostly because I feel there is a correlation between the difficulties of Southern drawls and New England dialects, which make that sort of dialogue resonate so well with one-another in this formulae that is Lovecraft. In-truth, I do hope people liked it, I slaved over it for quite a while, and quite honestly; I hope it is received with the notion that it’s a satire. The Harrowing Inheritance was also one of those enslaving stories that sort of gotten away on me perchance it became more a novel than a short story. I found it very difficult to complete in one shot, and if I had the opportunity to go back and fix it, I’d have summed it up quickly rather than over four grueling parts. Still, I found it delectable, and original, not necessarily likable, but it happens to many good ideas gone array. Still this post isn’t to complain or commend my former pieces of work; rather to give you an idea of what’s coming up. Now I said some time ago, I’d be publishing one of m old books onto Amazon, or a similar service like Smashwords in order to give readers a taste of something obtuse from the blog, and in-turn; give a more dynamic view of my particular voice as a writer, which s not always prevalent here. However, the book I wanted to originally release has had some copyright issues, mostly because it was attempted to first be published under another house, and for that reason, it cannot be put up on here, or any site, for even a penny, or even completely free for that matter! Free books tend to be a safe-bet to avoid these trivialities, but unfortunately for my readers, they may have to wait until I finish editing my other book, and placing it up for download, or even print if possible. I will try to work something out as a promotion for whoever actually reads this blog, as you are my longest, and strongest supporters for the past ten years. So I will get to talking to several artist, and several designers, thus having the books readily available to those who shall seek it out. I touched on that a bit, and thanks to the patience of my readers, I know the will happily rejoice in the book I want to release once it’s ready, and I will give a short preview of the book here when it’s truly ready to be released to the world. So let’s get back to the actual blog, and what I plan to have out, which is not pertaining to what will be mentioned in the Fall Newsletter. I will not be able to do any Short Story Weekly posts for most of November, but I will have written the second novel for NaNoWriMo, as mentioned above, that I will have plenty of information for the blog. Next, I will be doing the annual Halloween post, which is probably mentioned lightly in the newsletter, but this year, I think I will actually do the history of Halloween, which has always fascinated me as a holiday. Then I will have a lead-in for the Winter Newsletter, and as we all know, Winter is usually the slowest time for the Malacast Editorial, and seeing as I might be moving to a different locale this year, it may even be a whole season without the blog. Still, I will do my best to post as often as I can. With-that-being-said, yes, I am officially planning to move: Edgar Holves and I, who have been like brothers; are planning to make a new life for ourselves in that crazy world, and that means we will be officially renewing the EntroPhenom podcast! I am truly excited to do this podcast, and doing it right. We most likely will be doing that through YouTube as expected to do last year, but it was a bit difficult. Now, we will have plenty of time, and full-time Internet to be able to do it right, and give it the focus it truly deserves. The last thing I can think of that is going to be important to mention, is I am planning on putting up more video on Malacast Plays, because I have new games I want to play and comment on, because I feel everyone who does exactly that: comment on video games, never does it the way it should be done, and that’s truly commenting, rather than trying to be funny. Granted, I unintentionally attempt to be funny when I lose, but it usually doesn’t hit, nor was it meant to hit. Thank you so much for reading the Malacast Editorial.
