Malacast Editorial Ten Year Anniversary Post

Ten years ago, right here on a laptop similar to this MacBook Pro, I began the Malacast Editorial. I was so happy to finally have a way of reaching the world with just a click, and a few words on any subject in=particular. I was young when I started I, and testing waters in what may seem sophomoric ways now, but other blogs have come to follow suite, using similar post to drive some traffic to their site. Currently, my traffic sis in the high hundreds, which is not-at-all impressive, but or someone from the middle of nowhere, that shows my audience is further and wider, than I’d ever thought possible of reaching. Yes, I know that it’s a bit tiresome to hear someone blow their own horn, especially when said accomplishment seems so small, and I’d agree! To keep this going for ten years though, to have it up and working for this long, without giving in, well other than typing up my novels for the last eight years, I’ve never committed to something for so long. For someone with the shortcomings such as mine, I’m surprised I was able to handle al of this, especially trying my best to do every post, and I mean every post by myself. Sure, I know it’s still a blogspot.com blog, and I know that I don’t technically own it like I should, but for me, this is what I can accomplish now, and if I ever were to take this site over as my own holistic project, I promise it would be done so in the must studios of manners. Now for the fun stuff: yes! There will be fun stuff! Look forward to a very special Short Story Weekly! Where I will be posting a particular story, one that will be quite recognizable, and it will have an Amazon link in it, which will take you to one of my most outspoken novels. It has never been released in the world! That may not sound astonishing, but it is said to be completely impossible to publish in the society we live in today. Now that may sound a bit scary, but I promise you its not! I’ve been turned down for the content of this book multiple times, and I was relayed to other publishers, but they were to pessimistic, not understanding the point of the book, trying to placate it as some modern-day shocker, and I promise you, that is an insult to the craft and detail I put into this book. So, because I believe the book is worth a read, and I can happily see it being banned in several libraries and schools throughout the world, I will personally be releasing the short story, which will be molded (slightly) off the big book simultaneously. For the first four days, the book will be priced at $0.99 cents! That’s right, 99 cents! And like any shameless plug, I must warn that after those four days, it will shoot back up to a $3.99, and quite frankly, that seems like a very fair price. You will know which short story to look out for, because I will be putting the hyperlink to the page somewhere in the story: might be at the top, the middle, the bottom, or just plain smack dab in the tags. Think of it as a fun little Easter hunt, but it will be worth it to read this book. Now I don’t atrhonize ayone! I know many people promise to offer a spell=binding book of imagination and thought, and most barely deliever on the jacket cover, but I promise you that this is my most unique boo yet, and although I never gave away copies of my last book, mostly because I was unaware of a copyright I patened that didn’t allow at the time digital distribution (This was my first book written before Kindles even existed!) so I apologize for those who thought it was coming out, but this one I assure you will be fully legal for the download market! Now onto the blog! The Malacst Editorial is my Unicorn, it doesn’t seem to exist really anywhere outside my own little world, and for some, that’ fine. I was fortunate enough to have readers, many hf who do talk back to me, and find that no matter the lunacy seems to be on the pages, I am a pretty straight-shooting person that loves to write, without the hasle of sticklers. Yes, I love to edit, when I can, and it’s not always the easiet thing to edit, along with the dreaded autocorrect that’s so dependant u[on now, it’s like oil, but we can even seem to ween ourselves off it! Be-as-it-may, the blog has gone thorugh several changes, as stated into the precursor to this post. I will not bore ou with reiterating all of it here, but to give you the gist: the look, model, and subject have always had a cocophonic meoldy of different gneres, subtexts, debates, and political views. Yes, the bet way to alienate your audiene s to attack their sacred cows, but I feel I do so in a way that admires debate, not debace. I tried it once, and although I’ve not tried it again, I feel that the political game since several blog posts over the past few years have gone aray, that politics is n’t worth my valued, nor your comparable time. Granged, I love opinion, always wanted to share mine, and I tend to do s in a way that not’s necessarily outlandishsh, or overbearing, becauwe I don’t just stick to one core argment of a certain subject. Perhaps that’s why my MK posts d the best, and also because information is a pain to reference, but it makes it easier to stuff it all into seveal larger posts. Yes, every word of those posts were mine, nothing was copied and pasted. The same goes for The Fallout 3 review, which was one of my favorites, beasue that game is a monster, and I love writing about monster games of length. That games still makes all three god Arkham games look pipsqueak in comparison, and I think most of you who have played all the former, will have to agree. Currently im battle a nice nast stomachache, and about the most agaonzin fever I ever did have, although it’s also my birthday as I write this, I can’t help but think that mabe getting ol is a good thing, aybe I’ll grow u a bit, settle dwn into myself, despit the test of time currently. Im not necessarily old, but by the standards of the life/death ratio of my famil, I’m about halfway there. Of course, ratios were meant to have abberations now weren’t they? I hate being sick, but I know that I can tpe this surepptoous part of the post beause ive had it memorized now for weeks, as the date inches forward, I tend to grow even more excited as the time oes by. Yes I will be adding to this post up until the release date of the sixth, two das pruor to the original release date, because I feel it will be rather large to take multiple read throghs just to get it all, and I hope that’s not a burden for ou o bear, but a frolicking adventure of enthusiasm. To reiterate Malacast is the name of a character from the aforementioned bok I was supposed to releasenot but a year ago. The premise is he is a God, f reat power, and an antihero to a council of ofther gods and goddesses. H e is fought by a human being named Hank, and although there is so much more I could go into, I feel that legall it ma be too foreboding. The point s, I was nineteen when I wrote my first book, now I’m twenty-nine, ten years ago, and I’ve written so many more since, and still continue to do-so! I don’t mind writing shorter pieces either, somehow, it’s painstakingly difficult to switch from short to long, nd vice versa at times, so even some of my posts seem a bit skay of this issue. Anyhow, I’ve alwas wanted to be a writer, ever since I could learn how to read. Books opened p a workld for me that no other medum could do s well at the time. Video Games ave come along and allowed me to think in pheripherals, and I am propab ly now the top lucid dreamer in the word, but then again, who cold really measure that, so I will hubly say Im very good at it! Still, books were a pradise from the hell that was impoverty. Books are realtively cheap, and still are in the spectrum we live in today, and I still by as may as possible, and wash them down with fascination, and a nice bubble bath. Books and bubblebaths are the heaven on Earth, and if you add in some scented candles and a classical iece, that is the quintessential Nirvana, despite all tastes, genders, and discresionaries. Readin to me is an art, and a skill, it requires a great deal more than dragging ees over a page, it’s feeling out vices to a character via the dialogue the author has chosen. It calls for you to set the sceneary with the ambiguous prose choices, and the akinned call to past clichés to help ride out the bumps and troughs. It also demands concentratin, study, and even if it’s a new vomdey written by a stand-up professional, the demand for study is greatly needed to truly get into the mind of a wrking persona. Character are easy to understand: THEY WORK ON EMOTINS, AND ARE STARCH SYMBOLS FOR A PERSONALITY THAT NEEDS TO BE RENDERED INTO THE STORY. IN-TRUTH, WE COULD ARGUE THAT NO CHARACTER, SPEAKING LINE, OR NOT, EXISS! I DON’T MEAN TO TAKE IT TO A PHISOPHICAL SANDPOINT, BUT THERE IS TRULY A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AUTOBIOGRAPHY AND FICTION THAT ONE CAN JUST RUMINATE OVER IF THE JUST LOOK! it’s a new vomdey written by a stand-up professional, the demand for study is greatly needed to truly get into the mind of a wrking persona. Character are easy to understand: THEY WORK ON EMOTIoNS, AND ARE STARCH SYMBOLS FOR A PERSONALITY THAT NEEDS TO BE RENDERED INTO THE STORY. Sorry, I get a little carried away, but the point is still the same, and so books are my little escape, and have been better friends to me than some of my own kin. So this blog essentially started out as a place where I reviewed old, new, and sometimes lost-to-time novels. I would put my honest opinion into each one, small or big, and I have to say it wasn’t working out. Granted, I started at a time when Amazon has easily outsold even brick and mortar outlets, some even going out of business. Waldenbooks for example was one of the big ones to fall, and several small chains managed to stay alive, just because of the rarity of their wears. However I alwys stuk to the beleift that a book in the hand was worth a billion+ books that I couldn’t tangiably touch, and still I cursed such things as the iPhone, and Amazon Kindle, and even the B&N nook of all things! I still hold onto the core belief that a book is for holding, not some asinine download that dies out if you keep the backlight on for more than two hours. Sure, progress is inevitable, but to me, nothing smells better than an old book, and even if they created an app for that, it’s as fake a smell as the community we pretend to have in the twenty-first century. You know, for so long I’ve been doing this blog and I have to say it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life. For 10 years now I’ve been doing this and it never ceases to amaze me just how much work and effort I put it in the reward is the readership that I get from around the world which I appreciate so much. Yet… I feel like I have not yet reached the pinnacle of what this blog can be. Still, the last 10 years have been crazy; they have gone by so fast, I couldn’t imagine that so much is been done yet so much more needs to be completed. So let’s talk about what will be coming up on the blog, and more importantly what new features will be available in the upcoming months. Firstly, new posts will be up shortly: some are still in the works; the rest are just being edited, and should be up within the month. One of the particular posts I’ll be doing is my review of the book Ready Player One, which I will be writing shortly. In the upcoming months, I plan to be doing a whole mess of the new posts. I’m particularly excited about previewing Fallout 4, which releases in November. November 10th to be precise. I will also be prepping for the annual writing event NaNoWriMo, as this will be my second year competing, and I will hopefully be successful in completing 50,000 words or more towards a novel. in-truth, I’ve never been more excited for being a part of the Malacast Editorial, there’re so much coming up it is impossible not to be excited. Firstly, the Malacast Newsletter, which I’m still preparing for release come this Fall, will be issuing in a while new age of video game, book, and yes, even movie reviews. I wanted to go see Pixels, but I’ve found out the movie was considered so terrible, that it was not even worth viewing. Stil, I don’t go by other people’s reviews, so I’ll eventually see it soon. I will also be reviewing Star Wars Ep. VIII: The Force Awakens, right after it comes out during the Christmas holiday. Of course, it’s going to be one of those once-in-a-lifetime things, where it will be a must-see event. Granted, I’ll still be objectively reviewing it, but the inner nerd is very excited to see this movie finally come to fruition with the original cast, who I’m sure will all be killed off in the first movie, and forcibly push new cast members. Next, I’ll most-likely be playing Doom, which is definitely shaping up to be an interesting game, as Bethesda looks to be publishing with Id Software one of the best-looking games in the series. I know it’s an off-chance of happening, but I kind of hope the original Doom comes bundled somehow, or even a very modified version of it, because I’ve not played it in forever. I will also be doing some book reviews in the upcoming months, but seeing as the do take more time to analyze, it may be difficult to pinpoint which book I’ll be reviewing at what particular time. Currently I am reading In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson, and it’s a great book, came out in 2010. I do expect to review Fight Club 2 once it’s an omnibus, and the newest book by David Wong, famous for the John Dies at the End series. I am looking to come up with a host of other ideas in the way of new content for the blog, but as for now, I’ll be doing mch more of the same, and doing a better, more efficient job at it, because I do want to do the best for the blog, as well as for the content of which I’m discussing. I will add that I am looking to review some more apps as well, although I find this a bit disheartening, as most reviews for appicatins are present at the app stores, and also because apps are 99% free, most try, then drop them at their own discretion. Ten years goes by without any serious thought, and it’s always surprising to me that in only ten years’ time I’ve done so few blog posts, but then again, some of them are ridiculous in length, but I am proud to know that people have read them! I’ve changed so little it seem, but even I know I’ve grown so much more as a writer since I was but a mere eighteen year old highschooler, who was trying to piece together his life. I’ve done a great deal of thinking over these past few years, and I’m proud of my blog, but I would love to see it supersede it’s current demographic. Th years have shown that this blog has always had the potential of being something other than the regular website. I have been posting original content, such as short stories, theories and futurist posts about what may happen, and what’s happening today. I plan on doing even more short stories weekly, and although I try to get them out by Fridays, there is no real set date, however, I will be attempting to have them finished for Friday releases every week. The Monday Blog posts, which I’ve not contributed to lately; are definitely going to be coming back, and I will be tweeting to them in hopes of re-tweets so those who originally read my blog will know I still post. I’ve been posting weekly for months now and I’ve been writing as much as I can for as long now as I can remember. Always keep writing they say, but remember to take the time to take in ter information, for it’s through the process of learning which we become better writers. Gaming is, as you all may know something more of a lifestyle than a hobby for me, because I’ve been around to see it stem from its earliest origins, and seen where it’s come, but not necessarily caring where it is, rather where it will be in the near-future. That-being-said, because I do try to keep up n the times, and I know a trend versus a legitimate change in the direction of the medium, I will not be getting the Project Morpheus, nor sampling the Occulus Rift either, as I feel that V.R. is not going to be the future of gaming. Sure, I could be wrong, and obviously these bigger companies are desperate to see these two projects coexist in the marketplace, but I revuse to join into the herd, as I’ve grown up with V.R., and I promise you, it will never be mainstream. Look at the Playstation Move, and Microsoft’s Kinect: people do play them, but really, Nintendo was the only company to even come close to achieving the financial success of such peripherals. As I so eloquently put it in my post called Peripheral Apocalypse, I laid out my case as to why peripherals are doomed pieces of technology , and that we are already on the brink of making full-body suits to fully engage the players into the actual workd. The sad fact is that V.R. and other forms of peripherals are not nearly as comfortable as say, a good old fashioned controller. Even a wiimote or tablet comes off as far more user-friendly than say peripherals. However, I believe that we are living in an age where these creations will try to burst into the marketplace like they had in the 90s, and take a hold of the shares, but I will stick with my gut instinct, knowing that this is not for me, nor is it something I’d take as a serious contender for a game add-on. I was saying before that I started this blog when I was still in high school! Yes, this was, and in-fact is, a very important year for me, because it is the tenth anniversary of the blog, but it is also my last year in my twenties, and knowing that I’ll be thirty come twelve-month’s time, I’ll be sure to appreciate that this is going to be one of the biggest years for the Malacast Editorial! I will be pushing to release my first book through the market, no matter how I come to do so, because I believe it will be considered a milestone in my life, and I would love to share it all with you, just because it was something special. I cannot believe that I’ve written so much, and I still want to write more, but even I take a break because I know what will happen if I push too hard: a wordy post or story will ruin the anticipation for future projects. Yes, of course this is a lengthy post, but I assure you it’s merely because of ten years worth of information, and discussion, boiled down into one anniversary message. I knew I was a natural-born writer, one that could craft stories from scratch, but I also knew I was deeper than the written word, that I had a poet’s soul, but I was beginning to lose my poetic touch. Lately, I’ve been writing a small book of poetry, and it has been quite some time in the making, but it is going to be excerpted here on the Malcast Editorial first! Yes, I will be posting some bits and pieces of my poetry anthology here. I am also looking to eventually publish the poetry book for a miniscule fee, I believe the lowest is $0.99 on Amazon, but on Smashwords I believe I can set the price even lower. It’s more about getting the books out there, not expecting to make money from the art. Media in general is the fulcrum of truth in a lying world, and yes, we all know the media itself si full of crooks and thieves, stealing the truth, a misguiding lot; who seek to ridicule us at every turn, and defecate on the moral fabric of knowledge. However, I always held to the integrity of posting what I felt was right, even if it went against the so-called majority. I’m not one looks to stir the pot, most of my posts tend to be on the moderate side, but I’ve never once wanted to go with, or against the grain, I’ve just always been truthful to myself, even if it insulted, offended, or aggravated my constituency. I would rather be offended by the truth, than harmonized by a lullaby of lies. I’ve done perhaps one political post, with some politics thrown in here-or-there, mostly in my short stories, but obviously that was to merely jest, rather than rant. However, I do post a great deal on science, and technology, which are far more rewarding, and dare-i-say, important than whoever is running for the presidency. I can attest to this by looking at what the progress of strength through knowledge will obtain for us. We look to hold onto the reigns of a dying mythology that success comes from whoever is best in charge, rather than taking the knowledge available, and succeeding on our ow. I believe those who make themselves better do-so because they have the integrity to be better, and because it was obviously denied them from birth. I am not a fan of Math, but I believe it is fundamental, even if I personally am a trifling mess when it comes to something as destitute as dividing fractions. Still, I believe that we ned knowledge, even if it doesn’t come from a hallowed hall, and that knowledge should be free, and who would argue the fact? We give away everything else in this world, but knowledge is not what makes the person, but rather what that person does with said knowledge is what makes them achieve greatness. I believe wholeheartedly that we must do whatever we can to preserve knowledge, and let no side or force keep us from obtaining the truths that are held so sacred. WE do not need a fancy ivy-toiled building to achieve such throught, but it does help to have the very diploma said buildings award. Yet, we are unique creatures, and our paths towards educational enlightenment have not always been the same beaten path. I am a strong admirer of learning, and I feel the young, and more importantly, the old deserve to earn, not because of politics, or because of moral obligation, but I abdicate that learning is not only essential, it hearkens to the one-true soul: the caressing of the mind. So, in the spirit of my passion for learning, especially when it comes to science, I would love to suggest to all of you, if you do not already know, to go to Khan University, and sign up for a free learning curriculum. I am not being paid to announce this, it is merely a token of good-will that I suggest the site khanuniversity.com. This isn’t a promo, merely a suggestion, you obviously do not have to go there, and yes, there are a great deal more sites out there, but for most people, I find that Khan University is better organized, and coming from someone as disorganized as myself, that is truly a compliment. Finally, I would just like to say to everyone around the world: from the United States, to Azerbaijan; from Scandinavia, to Southeast Asia, and all seven continents, thank you so much for supporting, and even more importantly, reading the Malacast Editorial. Ten years ago, I never in my wildest dreams expected this blog to go global, and it is thanks to each and every person, whether they came away loving, or hating this blog, that made it all possible for my words to be reached across culture and creed. As with the purposeful cheer, here’s to another ten years, and many more to come. I hope you enjoy what I’ve offered so far, and I expect to host many more stories, posts, and of course, editorials. As a side-note, I will be looking for contributors who will want to post to the Malacast Editorial, this will be the first time I ever have writers post to this blog. If you host a blog, and would like to contribute to the Malacast Editorial, feel free to submit ideas at mcasteditorial.yahoo.com. I will get to them as soon as I can, but if I chose your post I will: promote your blog, and add a hyperlink to your blog permanently in that post. You will also be given a chance to give a short biography and picture of yourself for publication on the blog as well. If the posts are well received, you may be given the opportunity to become a full-time contributor, if you so-choose. Of course, this is all dependent on the amount of contributors I receive, as simply sending me articles or ideas will not gurantee publications. However, I assure you that no idea sent to me will be kept, or used in any way, so you can be rest-assured your ideas will not be stolen, reworded, or used, especially if you send original content. This should be obvious, but because of the inherent amount of plagiarism, yellow journalism, and grave robbing of ideas, I want to make it absolutely clear that I will never use or take your work without written consent, because as an artist, I too respect other people’s work as their own, and I will protect your work in my care as if it were your child. mcasteditorial@yahoo.com for your submissions, or if you want to send me any comments. I will also be issuing the Fall Newsletter when applicable, so I will need e-mails for sign-up, I wil be attempting to put a sign-up on the site itself, but I may just go old fashioned, and bulk send.
