Ender's Game Short Review. Last Post of 2007!

Orson Scott Card is the renowned author of The Ender Series, and the praise for him is not ever more present than in his first novel, Ender's Game. Some said that this novel would not be anything more than an poorly written pice of Science Fiction, with immature language and a weak plot/story-line. The same critics that assumed that much of Ender's Game were more likely to stuff it after the novel one two prestigious awards in the Science Fiction genre. The novel won the Nebula and Hugo awards, which are the two largest awards in Science Fiction next to the Philip K. Dick award.
The premise of Ender's Game is based of Card's empathy of highly intellgient children. He felt that they were overlooked and underappreciated, while still having to deal with peer pressure and neglect. Ender is a prime example of how genius can be manipulated and taunted by those who see him merely as a boy, and how adluts use his young ignorance for trust to their advantage.

I do not want to reveal much about this book, but all you really need to know is that The Aliens called Buggers attacked Earth twice, and Ender is the only hope for all mankind, yet he doesn't realize it just yet. Ender has to train in the Battle School where he goes for the major majority of his childhood, if you could call it a "childhood". He starts out in Salamander Army, moves to Rat Army, and before he can even wet his toes, is forced out of that army and placed in charge Dragon Army. Dragon Army is the worst army in the school, so bad it was disbanded for five years. This would become the true test of Ender's physicality and mentality, and we soon realize that Andrew "Ender" Wiggin is no mere boy.
The story unfolds and thus leads the reader into the next book: Speaker of the Dead. I suggest that if one chooses to read Ender's Game, that the reader continues on to Speaker of the Dead. Card's novels are some of the most interesting Science Fiction out there. Ursula K Le Guin is also one I highly recommend. For more on Science Fiction, try http://www.sfsite.com/, it has a lot of information on Science Fiction.
Well as the title says, this is the very last 2007 post, as I will be away for the festive holidays. I hope everyone enjoys their holiday season, and everyone gets what they want from Santa. Have a great New Year!
