X-Games Rings in the Unofficial Toll of Summer This Week

Normally on Monday, I write for a hashtag called Monday Blogs, because, well, it's a Monday Blogs. I have to admit, I've done a Monday blog for about every Monday since I discovered Monday Blogs. I've enjoyed writing for weekly,  is almost tri-weekly for this blog, because it keeps it fresher, and at times, I've too fresh, because I seem to be breaking news, rather than telling it, and that's always fun.  One thing I've learned from observing my favorite media, as the video game industry is starting to hit that first stretch of bad luck, just as Atari did in the mid 80's, I can see what trends are coming, whether they are desired, or not.
Electronic Entertainement Expo is big, and it is probably being more hyped this year because it's officially the season for new IPs, and a ton of new games, especially in the next year or two for new systems. Granted, they seem "old", but these systems are truly the newest we how've, and haven't scratched much of the surface of what we're going to see for the run of this console cycle. I've spoken a great deal on video games, especially for E3, and not to tire the subject, I'm going to  instead talk about another passion: the X-Games, or the official start of the summer season.

X-Games has always been the go-to in sports. In-fact, for me personally, I've always avoided sports, especially the main ones, like football, soccer, baseball, you name it, I was always into skateboarding and in-line skating instead. Even as a child, I loved going on rollerblades, and I know it's not popular to use them anymore, and I'd never be caught dead on them now, but as a kid, it was always exciting for me to go out and jump around until I broke something. Now-a-days, the X-games seems to be mostly focused on BMX and Skateboafding, both street and vert. I member when the Big Air ramp was first introduced, and I couldn't quite believe just how spectacular it was to watch Bob Burnwuist and Danny Way go over thwt monster.
I remember the thrill of this sport, and I knew it was something completely different, something that most other sports couldn't bring to the table. I'm a bit older now than when I was an eight year old boy, rooting for Rodney Mullen and Tony Hawk, but even now, being an avid Tennessee Titans fan,  and a rabid baseball fan, I still rather watch a 900 get pulled off on a ramp that launches them thirty feet in the air. Still, I love the X-Games, I love watching the young bloods come up, and I love to see the old guys keep it real. Even Bucky Lasek still brings it on the vert ramp, and that is simply awesome. Him and Bob Burnquist are the last two of the old school to really stay in the game. Acts like Nyjah Houston and Jamie Bestwick, even Tom Scharr, are acts that will be the names that sponsor the next generation of riders and skaters.
Summer X-Games is whee it started for me, it got me off my ass, made me want to try ridiculous moves that would make my parent's insurance skyrocket, and have me on a first-name basis with the pediatrician. X-Games was something that was holistically mine, as I'm a East Coast guy, and many of my friends and contemporaries were not interested in the X-Games. Then again, most weren't into curling as well, which I have a very unhealthy admiration for it. I'm excited to see just how those flat-race Goes, and seeing of course Rusty Wilson come out of retirement for NASCAR, because it's going to be in resting to watch him do truck racing.

This year has Buf Air Duo, which could be interesting, but my favorite event is Strp Up, and on Thursday night the X-Gsmes will kick off with Step-Up Finals, and then the new flat-race Harley-Daviddon Mortorcycles race.  If you've. It ever watched X-Gsmes before, I would suggest jumping on the bandwagon this year.
